ACNE

ACNE

Acne is the most common problem for adolescents. According to data, almost 80 % of people face this problem from just a few blackheads to severe acne to at some time in their life .we should understand acne is a disease, not just normal growth.

acne process starts from blackheads, whiteheads, pimples red bumps and cysts.
By taking certain steps at home we can control the formation of acne and can speed up the healing process. First of all, we should understand the disease.

Basic facts.

Our skin is composed of two layers.

Epidermis...... the outer most layer protects us from the outer world.

dermis ..... the second layer contains blood vessels, sweat glands, nerves, and follicles.

connecting tissue ..... are the supporting structures of the dermis and holds it together

sweat glands have their opening in the surface

sebaceous glands(oil glands ) flows outward their oil (sebum ) through follicles.
These glands tremendously occur in the face, chest, and back where acne commonly occurs.
The cells at the outer surface are dead.
These dead cells are constantly replaced by new cells born in the basal layer of epidermis
new cells are moving outward to the top of skin inside of the follicle. When cells reach on the outer surface they are flat and dead
These lining cells, lose their attachments and fall into the follicle. In this manner, the lining cells are constantly replacing them. In 27 days the whole epidermis is replaced.the dead cells carried out by the flow of sebum or growth of hair.
this is a normal process and as long as dead cells and sebum carried out skin remains normal and pimple free.
all acne begins in the follicle.it means all pimples whiteheads blackheads cyst status in the follicle.
the sebaceous glands in affected follicles are large and overactive and produce more sebum or oil. this excess oil can be felt on the skin
In acne, dead cells and oil could not flow away from follicle to the surface

Pimples

when dead cells and sebum do not get out of follicle to the surface and the cells stick together and build up along the walls of the follicle then the problem starts. dead cells and sebum plugs the follicle These beginning plugs are tiny pimples. we can see them with the  microscope
These developing plugs are extremely important they are small in size and not inflamed
These are baby pimples, the earliest zits. they are known as comedones .this is the beginning of all acne. if we stop the formation of theses tiny pimples we can stop acne
This is how all acne starts. This process will eventually completely plug the follicle with dead cells and oil.
It is interesting that pimples do not form in follicles that contain large hair the outward growth of the hair drags the oil and dead cells with it.

whiteheads

if dead cells and sebum increase in size and continue to build up in follicle then this tiny follicle becomes large enough now it is visible without a microscope. it is small skin-colored a slightly white bump not noticeable.
these are more easily felt than seen and they are frequently easier to see if we stretch the skin.
These little bumps usually remain small in size almost
2 mm, and it will take months to get that big
Thousands of cells have to build up before they become visible
when. The follicle is completely plugged with the dead
cells and oil. , the plugging is beneath the surface, within the follicle. Some people call these little bumps "whiteheads."
(Red pimples, after they "come to a head" and develop a yellow or white cap in the center, are sometimes called whiteheads.) , they have no opening at the surface so
. Dermatologists call this type of plug a closed comedo.

Blackheads

when the follicle is full of dead cells and sebum some times there is a hole at the top. as this hole enlarges this becomes visible and follicle appears filled with dark greasy substance this is called blackhead or open comedo. the black color is due to the melanin present in the skin. this is not dirt
With the continual accumulation of oil and dead cells within the follicle, sometimes the hole at the top is slowly stretched open  As the opening thus
enlarges, one can easily see the opening and the follicle appears filled with a dark cheesy substance.

Red pimples

inflammation converts theses tiny pimples into red pimples. when dead cells and oil continue to build up in follicle so its wall ruptures and the dead cells,
bacteria, sebum and tiny hair get out of the follicle and into the dermis,
